It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s a cube of at least 3x3x3m with at least four faces displaying stereoscopic images. The Cave at<\/span> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vrac.iastate.edu\/\">Iowa State University<\/a><span lang=\"EN-US\"> has just been upgraded and now has a resolution of 100 million pixels, featuring 96 GPUs and 24 Sony digital projectors.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/cb.nowan.net\/images\/vr\/AM_Cave.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">\u00c2\u00a9 Arnaud Muthelet<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">Multiple users can fit in a Cave, enabling collaboration. As <a href=\"http:\/\/cb.nowan.net\/blog\/2007\/03\/15\/the-come-back-again-of-the-third-dimension-in-movies\/\">3D movies are coming back<\/a>, we should consider them as potential VR centers !<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">That\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s why <a href=\"http:\/\/cb.nowan.net\/blog\/2007\/03\/31\/the-pyramid-and-the-biggest-vr-screen\/\">the biggest VR display<\/a> is in Paris, in the famous <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lageode.fr\/\">La G\u00c3\u00a9ode<\/a> theater that also hosts an Imax projector.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/cb.nowan.net\/images\/vr\/geode1.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">(c) S. Some of them are getting more attention :<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/cb.nowan.net\/images\/vr\/eMaginZ800.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">(c) S. Kuntz<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; the <a href=\"http:\/\/3dvisor.com\/\">eMagin Z800<\/a> seems to be the most successful. Priced at1500$, it has very nice displays (OLED, 800&#215;600), but <a href=\"http:\/\/vresources.org\/node\/1047\">disappointing integrated trackers<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/cb.nowan.net\/images\/vr\/Trimersion_sm.jpg\" alt=\"n\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">(c) Trimersion<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-left: 36pt; text-indent: -18pt;\"><!-- [if !supportLists]-->&#8211; <!--[endif]-->the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.trimersion.com\/\">Trimersion<\/a> has the big advantage of being wireless and cheap (600$). Small resolution (640&#215;480) and probably crappy integrated trackers. Note that the gun is not tracked.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/cb.nowan.net\/images\/vr\/sensics_pisight.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>\n(c) Sensics<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-left: 36pt; text-indent: -18pt;\"><!-- [if !supportLists]-->&#8211; <!--[endif]-->the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sensics.com\/\">piSight Sensics<\/a> is a panoramic HMD, with a field of view up to 180\u00c2\u00b0, and up to 4200&#215;2400 pixels per eye ! It is made up of several OLED 800&#215;600 displays (built by eMagin). <a href=\"http:\/\/cb.nowan.net\/blog\/2006\/10\/11\/sensics-pisight-first-review\/\">The main problem<\/a> is that if it is not perfectly setup on your head, you can see the seams between those displays.
