With a monochrome stereoscopic HMD with a 384\u00c3\u2014224 resolution, it was priced at 180$ and reportedly Nintendo sold 700&#8217;000 units. The failure of the system had them discontinue the project one year later.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/upload.wikimedia.org\/wikipedia\/en\/thumb\/8\/8e\/Virtual_Boy_kit.jpg\/280px-Virtual_Boy_kit.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/> <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/upload.wikimedia.org\/wikipedia\/en\/8\/89\/Mario%27s_Tennis_screenshot.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A bit sooner, Sega also tried to release a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.revrob.com\/content\/view\/43\/52\/\">VR console<\/a> [and wikipedia <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sega_VR\">here<\/a>] in 1994, with LCD screens and inertial trackers:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The Sega VR console combined full color LCD screens and stereo sound. Weight was distrusted evenly, and the device was reported to be comfortable. Also, unlike the Virtual Boy, it was truly portable, not requiring a cumbersome tripod for enjoyable game play.<\/p>\n<p>(&#8230;)<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/upload.wikimedia.org\/wikipedia\/en\/thumb\/0\/0a\/Segavr.jpg\/180px-Segavr.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>Due to limited resources, strategic planning, the complete and utter failure of Nintendo\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Virtual Boy, underwhelming graphics and performance, as well as motion sickness, Sega was wise in not bringing this clich\u00c3\u00a9 console to the market.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>The company claimed the project was stopped because the VR was so real users would move while wearing the headset and injure themselves.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Hum.
